What Is Delirium?

Delirium is an immersive haunted attraction presented by Garage of Terror in Chesaning, Michigan.

But walking through Delirium isn't simply about moving from one scary room to the next.

The attraction is built around live actors, original characters, detailed environments, and a story that continues around you as you move deeper inside.

Our characters don't simply wait in the darkness for their turn to scare you. They interact with guests, react to what happens around them, and become part of the experience itself.

That means no two trips through Delirium have to feel exactly the same.

You might remember the sets.

You might remember the scares.

But chances are...

You'll remember the characters who found you along the way.

The Garage of Terror Difference

Garage of Terror has always believed that a haunted attraction is only as strong as the experience happening inside it.

Sets can create the world.

Lighting and sound can create the atmosphere.

But it's the people inside Delirium who bring that world to life.

ACTORS AT THE CENTER

Our actors aren't background decoration.

They're characters with personalities, motives, and their own place inside Delirium.

They interact with guests, adapt to what's happening around them, and help turn a walkthrough into an experience you become part of.

MORE THAN A JUMP SCARE

A scare doesn't always have to come from something suddenly jumping out of the darkness.

Delirium mixes startling moments with tension, conversation, uncomfortable encounters, atmosphere, and the feeling that something—or someone—is paying attention to you.

Sometimes what happens before the scare is what you'll remember most.

A WORLD THAT FEELS CONNECTED

The rooms, sets, characters, and story of Delirium aren't meant to feel like completely unrelated scenes placed beside each other.

They're pieces of a larger world.

You don't have to know the story before you enter.

But if you start looking closely...

You may realize there's more happening around you than you thought.

A World With a Story

The characters inside Delirium didn't simply appear when the doors opened.

They have histories.

They have relationships.

And some of them have made choices that changed everything.

Behind the scares is an original world filled with characters including Freakshow, Damien, WAKC, Kush, Emily Poe, Charles Poe, and others whose stories connect throughout Delirium.

You don't need to know any of the lore before entering the attraction.

In fact, part of the fun is discovering pieces of it for yourself.

A name overheard in the darkness.

An object that seems strangely important.

A character who appears to know something you don't.

A detail in one room that suddenly makes more sense somewhere else.

The deeper you look, the more Delirium begins to reveal.

But be careful.

Some stories are easier to enter than they are to escape.

What to Expect Inside Delirium

Delirium is designed to be an intense, interactive haunted experience.

Once you enter, expect the environment—and the characters inside it—to keep you guessing.

LIVE ACTOR INTERACTION

The characters of Delirium don't simply stand in the background.

They may speak to you, follow the moment, react to your group, and become part of your experience.

Actors may also use light physical contact, such as a gentle brush or touch, as part of the show.

DARKNESS, LIGHT & SOUND

Delirium uses a combination of:

  • Dark environments

  • Loud and sudden noises

  • Fog

  • Strobe and flashing lights

  • Dramatic lighting

  • Disturbing imagery

The atmosphere is meant to keep you uncomfortable even when nothing appears to be happening.

UNPREDICTABLE ENCOUNTERS

Not every scare comes from something jumping out at you.

Some moments are loud.

Some are quiet.

Some may leave you wondering whether anything is about to happen at all.

That's usually when you should start worrying.

A PHYSICAL WALK-THROUGH EXPERIENCE

Delirium is located inside a two-story attraction.

Guests should expect stairs, dark areas, and movement between multiple levels while traveling through the haunt.

Delirium is not currently wheelchair accessible.

How Scary Is Delirium?

Delirium is recommended for guests ages 14 and older, but there is no minimum age requirement.

The experience is not toned down based on age.

Parents and guardians should decide whether Delirium is appropriate for younger guests before purchasing admission.

You know your kid better than we do.

Just don't blame us if they're sleeping peacefully afterward while you're checking the closet.

From a Halloween Party to Garage of Terror

Garage of Terror didn't begin as a traditional haunted attraction.

It started with a Halloween party.

What began as a way to create something memorable for family and friends quickly grew into something much bigger. After seeing the response, Garage of Terror opened its doors to the public the following year, and the attraction continued growing from there.

Each season brought new ideas, larger sets, new characters, and more people helping bring the experience to life.

But one thing has remained at the center of Garage of Terror from the beginning:

The people inside the attraction matter just as much as the attraction itself.

Actors, characters, storytelling, and guest interaction became a major part of what Garage of Terror was known for.

Over the years, the haunt continued to evolve.

Eventually, that evolution became Delirium, a more connected, character-driven world built around everything Garage of Terror had learned along the way.

What started as a Halloween gathering became something thousands of guests would eventually walk through.

And we're still finding new ways to make it worse.
